El Dorado: Colombian Gold – 1995

El Dorado: Colombian Gold 1995

In pre-Columbian South America, gold’s symbolic value, association with the sacred and emblematic function transcended regional and ethnic differences. Goldsmithing in the region reached its peak of creativity and sophistication in the present-day territory of Colombia. This exhibit allowed Museum visitors to appreciate the richness and diversity of this ancient American art. It was mounted with the support of Colombia’s Gold Museum.
