Gelam Nguzu Kazi – Dugong My Son – 2009

This exhibit visited the Museum as part of a world tour organized by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It consisted of 33 linotypes from the collection of the MualgauMinaral Collective of Mua Island in the Torres Strait of Northwest Australia. In addition to their intrinsic esthetic value, the works reflect the rich mythology of the people indigenous to that territory and reveal the wealth of potential for expressing ancestral indigenous traditions in modern forms.
