Museum closed until 2013
The Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino will be closed to the public until late 2013 for the Museum’s expansion project, which will add a thousand square meters of floor space and increase the capacity of the exhibition halls by seventy percent, allowing the institution to double the number of artifacts on display from its collection.
The new space—to be built under the North and South courtyards— will house an area dedicated to the indigenous people who first inhabited this territory, and their descendants.
All Museum departments will continue in operation and the Library will remain open throughout the construction process.
