The peoples of the Americas have developed complex iconographies that are layered with meaning. To the untrained eye it may be difficult to distinguish the figures and motifs that are represented in American ceramic and textile artifacts. The fifty pieces from the Museum’s collection that are found in this section display basic iconography from several distinct cultural areas of the Americas.
