Living Tradition: Malaysia’s Textile Heritage – 2003

This exhibit included 22 pieces from Southeast Asia’s rich and varied textile tradition and was an initiative of the Malaysian National Art Gallery (Balai Seni Lukis Negara). Although designed almost exclusively in Malaysia and mounted by the designer herself, who came from Malaysia with a team of experts, the exhibit was adapted for the Museum with the active participation of our own designer. An excellent exhibit catalogue was published for the occasion and a native weaver was brought in to make this an even more enriching experience for visitors, especially those who were experiencing this form of artistic expression for the first time.
