Navajo: Weavings of the Grandmothers – 2000

Navajo: tejido por las abuelas 2000

This exhibit on indigenous North American art was the first of its kind in the Museum’s history, and was organized in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of the American Indian. The display focused on the textile world of the Navajo people and included close to 40 pieces, most from the 19th century, that were placed in cultural context with the collaboration of members of that indigenous group.
