Santos Chávez: Woodcuts and Linocuts – 2004

Presentation

This retrospective exhibit of the Mapuche artist Santos Chávez was on display for four months in our Museum. The display included close to one hundred works owned by the artist’s wife, Eva Chávez, and by other private collectors. The exhibit explored the artist’s development through his engravings, with a special section on its themes. Santos Chávez lived outside of Chile for much of his life and left behind more than a thousand works, which are now housed in museums in Chile and abroad.
