Objects found in graves prove that Diaguita identity transcended death
The Diaguita buried their dead with objects that identified their social rank or function, such as ornaments and utensils used during the person’s lifetime. This display contains personal ornaments such as pendants, earrings, necklaces and ceramic pieces. Both living individuals and deceased ones—with closed eyes—are represented on these duck-shaped pitchers.
