The art of being Diaguita

The origins of Diaguita art and culture can be found in Las Ánimas

The Las Ánimas people occupied the valleys and coasts of the Norte Chico from AD 800 to 1200. For a time, Las Ánimas and Diaguita shared roughly the same territory as well as certain cultural practices such as cranial deformation and the consumption of hallucinogenic substances. From the Las Ánimas pottery, the Diaguita adopted some forms, designs and colors that helped to cement their identity.
