Taira, the dawn of art in Atacama – 2017
LIFE IN THE TIME OF TAIRA
In the Taira era, human groups grew crops and raised camelids as a way of complementing their hunting and gathering way of life. Camelids provided them with wool and served as pack animals.
These communities were already making ceramic and metal objects. They wove baskets and finely crafted camelid wool garments. Over time, life gradually became more sedentary throughout the ancient Atacama region.
